Ask Jordan: Wedding Wardrobe

Q: "I am in a wedding in the Dominican Republic, and both the ceremony and reception are on the beach. The bride has left it up to all the girls to decide if we want to wear shoes or go barefoot, or wear foot jewelry (what is this??). The dresses are coral and short. What would you do?" - Lauren

I love these type of questions! And not only do I love this question, but I actually love the dresses! When I heard coral, I got scared, but it actually looks really quite lovely on both these girls. Especially for a wedding in the Dominican, these dresses will really stand out!

Okay, so first, the shoes for the ceremony. I have never heard of "foot jewelry" until I was asked this. Which it sounds funny, but actually looks quite pretty! And Etsy has some great options! They have all sorts of options. I thought these were simple yet elegant.

Now for the reception, which will mostly be indoors, or if not, at least outside on some solid ground. When I saw this question and the picture of the two girls above, I immediately thought of Jessica Alba from the movie Good Luck Chuck. I loved her look in the wedding scene, and I thought these bridesmaids dresses really resembled Jessica's outfit from the movie.

So I thought I would recreate her look. Here's what I found:

1. Brown Wedges - These ones from Chinese Laundry are a great choice. The classic brown wedge with gold accent goes especially nice with the coral. As an option you can even dress it up with a brown belt (see below). And the wedge is a great shoe, especially for transitioning from sand to solid ground.

2. Gold Chandelier Earrings - I know they aren't exact to Jessica's, but these gold chandelier earrings go great with the entire outfit, and look really nice with a golden tan.

3. Wide Brown Belt - This one from Macy's is an excellent choice that complements both the shoes and the earrings. It's also wide enough to cover the pleats in the bridesmaids dresses, so the dress looks seamless from top to bottom.

As a final tip, especially for a beach wedding, the natural makeup Jessica is sporting is the way to go. A nice golden tan  (see my post here) with bronze eyelids, and a side swept pony as a finishing touch is just beautiful!

Whether your a bridesmaid or a guest, you can still look elegant and chic with these fashion forward tips!
